Ricca Terra Farms is a unique and truly special cluster of Australian vineyards. The vision of founders Ashley & Holly Ratcliff in 2003 was to identify and nurture grape varieties that suited a Mediterranean climate. Today Ricca Terra Farms is one of the leading producers of alternative wine grape varieties in Australia.
The Ricca Terra Farms’ team may be small but what it lacks in stature, it makes up for in passion…..passion to make a difference. Napoleon Hill sums up the teamwork vision of Ricca Terra Farms perfectly:
‘It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed’
After spending a childhood growing up on a sheep and cattle property in the southern area of the Barossa, Ashley Ratcliff found himself carving out a career in an industry that had been in his backyard for generations. Ashley has been employed as a viticulturist, winery manager and general manager in various wine growing regions across Australia and has experience in many international wine industries, such as France, Italy, Canada and California.
Ashley holds a Masters Degree in Wine Technology & Marketing and is a Bachelor of Applied Science in Viticulture. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course and has undertaken various management courses with theUniversity of Adelaide (Signature School). In addition to academic achievements, Ashley has received recognition for his innovative work within the wine industry.
Ashley has been the managing director of Ricca Terra Farms since 2003.

Holly comes from a family of nurturers. Her father and uncle both managed large pine plantations across South Australia. Like vineyards, these radiata pine forests needed careful care from the time of planting until they were harvested. Holly’s mother Judy was a mid-wife who has helped to deliver and care for many new born babies.
It is no wonder that Holly decided to become a health professional. She is a qualified speech pathologist and runs a private speech pathology business in the Barossa specialising in children.
Her role at Ricca Terra Farms is to manage expectations and help with the strategic direction of the farm.
